HAPPY 56th BIRTHDAY, AMY !
i am a 33 year old female with a family history of breast cancer. i do not have cancer but i have opted to have a prophylactic breast mastectomy (pbm) to manage my personal risk. this blog is to document my journey and to get my thoughts and feelings out. it is a way for me to cope and to hopefully help others along in this same journey or to empower others who struggle for understanding.
Wow! Exciting! Now you just have to wait...one of the hardest parts of the whole thing. What type of reconstruction option are you going to do?
ReplyDeletelol. teri...i plan to post details of recon in a post tonight or tomorrow so stay tuned.
ReplyDeletei was actually having a harder time not knowing when my surgery date was going to be. now that i know i am completely calm...well for now that is.
i was initially told surgery would be in nov. then jan. then feb. and now it is finally booked. i am sure i will stress a bit. i am in my dreams. i have dreamed having the surgery 3 times now...yeesh.

Good luck! My surgery is scheduled for April 9th. I am having one-step NON nipple sparing surgery. Since I'm opting for a smaller size, that will be my best cosmetic result.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading more about your journey.
